Samsung NC10 Netbook Games

So we all know that this little machine won’t be able to run full-on modern graphic hungry games. But most of us I’m sure love the idea of a quick blast on the train home from work every day. I have been running a poll on the front page this week and it seems that the vote is split between casual net users and those of us who are going to try out all and every game we can!

I am firmly in the latter group and from time to time I will be loading up games from my old collection and will report back how well they run! Here are the first two games that I have installed on my Samsung Netbook:

So here is a quick video of Trackmania forever – the free version of the series running on my NC10, you can get it here! It isn’t perfect and you won’t be breaking any records but here is a quick lap round one of the basic stages so show that it does run on a netbook. Having a gamepad helps – not the kind of thing you’ll be travelling with on most days!

I have also given Unreal Tournament 2004 a go on the Samsung NC10. It looks much better in this clip than it did in reality. Any fan of the game will spot that I am playing Gael – the smallest and most performant map that comes with the game. It was playable, sure, but not really all that much fun when compared to the full sized version. In this clip I am playing with the default settings so better performance could be achieved with further tweaking.

On the plus side, the original UT game runs very well. If your eyesight is up to it then it’s worth dusting off your old CD and installing it on your little Sammy!

I’ve got a video of the NC10 running C&C Red Alert 2. Runs really smooth too.
